A lot of companies describe themselves as cutting edge, but when it comes to Reach Robotics and its augmented reality gaming robots, the company isn’t exaggerating – this has genuinely never been done before. Reach Robotics designs, builds and refines battling robots that one employee describes as the ‘gorgeous lovechild of Pokemon, Transformers and Robot Wars, with augmented reality thrown on top’.

Reach Robotics first product, the Mekamon battling robot, is capturing some major attention – it’s already being sold in Apple stores around the world and the company raised £5.8m in funding recently from world-class investors like London Venture Partners, Qualcomm Ventures, Hardware Club, Iglobe Partners, Passion Capital and Techstars. It’s clear Reach Robotics are going places, and if you have the skills to join the team and have a strong passion for gaming, you could join them on the journey.

It’s an exciting field to be exploring too. As founder Silas says, ‘Technology will bring our wildest imaginations to life and robotics will take us there.’ This means that if you have a deep-rooted curiosity in pushing fields like gaming, robotics, science, engineering and technology, then Reach Robotics wants to hear from you.

Reach Robotics also understand that in emerging fields like this one it’s hard to get the experience, so if you think you’d fit in with what you know, don’t be afraid to give them a call.

Our People

I enjoy working for Reach for many reasons, but one of the best things is the variety of work I get. This could be doing traditional style painting for one job, and then vector based design and 2D animation for videos. It gives me a lot of room for developing different skills and researching new techniques.

Life at Reach Robotics

At Reach Robotics it isn’t about doing things fast, it’s about doing things properly. The team are on the lookout for creative self-starters who want to develop new experiences and features for both MekaMon hardware and software. People who take pride in their work to create products of a quality to get picked up by industry-leaders like Apple.

Reach Robotics has long held a company culture that values respect, cooperation and creativity making it an incredibly welcoming, friendly workplace. Throughout 2017, Reach Robotics’ team size has grown considerably from the small original startup team to over 30 people. However, the company is going out of its way to retain the close-knit, supportive workplace culture bred into its original team.

The Reach Robotics office is perfect for commuters too, situated as it is just a 5-minute walk from Bristol Parkway station. The office is in a location that benefits from the relaxed atmosphere outside of the city while always being a short train journey away from the city centre. Surrounding supermarkets, pubs, and restaurants are within walking distance and with a gym around the corner, it’s easy to take advantage of the local amenities.

From team gaming afternoons to away days there are plenty of opportunities for downtime to socialise and to enjoy the resulting friendly atmosphere. Filled with passionate professionals working on unique projects that challenge gaming and robotics industry conventions, the Reach Robotics office holds boundless opportunity for you.

“Its important for us here at Reach Robotics to remain loyal to Bristol, given the support we’ve already had from Bristol Robotics Lab and UWE Bristol.”
