Amazon offers tech apprenticeship in Bristol

Amazon is opening up nearly 50 degree apprenticeships in software development in Bristol, alongside 950 other places around the country.

The company is looking for talent for its Operations, Engineering and Technical teams, having already taken on the Richard Barry, the developer of the world’s most popular real time operating system (RTOS) to power the Internet of Things (IoT).

The apprenticeship schemes are aimed at people who have a passion for learning new skills and who want to start a career, as an alternative to continuing in education or in order to retrain in a new direction.

Software Development Degree Level 6 Apprenticeship (SDE)

The SDE Apprenticeship will work with cutting-edge technology to develop critical products, working in Bristol, Cambridge, London or Scotland. Developers at Amazon work on real world problems on a global scale, own systems end-to-end, and influence the direction of the company’s technology that serves hundreds of millions of customers around the world. The 48 apprenticeship includes classroom-based training hosted offsite and Amazon’s on-the-job training program in a blended-learning approach, using a combination of digital learning and face-to-face sessions, video, core reading, exercises and online tutorial. This will provide a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions.

Engineering – Process Automation Engineering Degree Level 6 Apprenticeship

The 48 month Automation Engineering scheme combines studying for a degree with hands-on practical training in both general engineering basics as well as specialising in the programmable logic controllers (PLC) that are at the heart of factory automation systems and robotics used in Amazon’s Avonmouth fulfilment centre, attending the University of Salford on block release to achieve a BEng degree in Controls and Automation.

Engineering – Advanced Mechatronics Level 3 Apprenticeship

The 48 month Mechatronics Advanced scheme combines college-based learning with hands-on training, learning the engineering basics for the Level 3 Engineering Technician (Mechatronics Maintenance) apprenticeship standard as well as a HNC in Engineering.
